We all have those mornings when we’re just not into it and don’t feel like getting ready. That was me this morning! For the most part, picking out outfits and get dressed is something I love, but on days when I’m extra tired or have a crazy schedule, there are a few key pieces that are easy to throw on and always look put together. These items work for both women and men and can be used as a formula to figure out what to wear when you don’t feel like getting ready.
A button down shirt
When you’re trying to figure out what to wear when you don’t feel like getting ready in the morning, a failsafe option is a button down shirt. You can wear the shirt open (pictured) with another tank or t-shirt underneath for a more casual vibe, or you can button it up to appear a bit more polished and professional. I was feeling super casual, so I opted for a chambray shirt, but any button down will work. The key here is the style of shirt, not the color or print. This classic wardrobe staple will serve you well, and can easily be dressed up or down depending on your needs.
Colored denim
I talk about this a lot, but colored denim is a great way to feel comfortable, yet appropriate. There’s nothing like a great pair of jeans, but colored denim takes things up a notch and appears more professional with virtually no extra effort. Black jeans are a great way to go because they can get dressed up or down, but if you’re someone who loves color, you can have fun with it.
This is my favorite option for women, and this is my favorite option for men.
Nice shoes
There’s nothing that will instantly pull together an outfit like a great pair of shoes. When you don’t feel like getting ready in the morning, having a great pair of shoes on hand will make it effortless to create a head to toe office look. This could mean a pair of pumps or nice flats for women, and for men, think about trying a pair of shoes such as wingtips or simple leather boots. The goal is to have a shoe option that appears polished and put together, and can be worn in a variety of situations.

Getting ready in the morning isn’t difficult if you’ve built a versatile wardrobe, but there are some mornings when you just don’t feel like getting ready. Maybe you had a late night, or it’s just been a crazy week, but when you’re trying to figure out what to wear when you don’t feel like getting ready in the morning, grab a button downs shirt, colored denim, and a great pair of shoes. Simple, polished, professional, and you can get out the door in no time!
