What Hawaii Reminded Me About Style

I’ve been to Hawaii quite a few times over the years, and every time I go, I’m reminded that life doesn’t have to be so fast paced. On this vacation, what Hawaii reminded me about style is that style is simple, and there should be an easy balance between comfort, ease of getting ready, and looking good.

If you’re not comfortable in the outfit, it’s not worth it

One of the things that Hawaii reminded me about style is that style shouldn’t come at the cost of discomfort. If you’re not comfortable in something, don’t wear it. There are enough style options where you can look good and feel good in what you’re wearing, so there’s no need to sacrifice comfort for style. Confidence comes from within you, and if you feel good in what you’re wearing, this will translate to looking good as well.

You don’t have to have a lot of different items to create a lot of outfits

I only ever travel with a carry on and do not check any bags, so versatility is key when it comes to clothing. Time after time, I’m reminded that a few key pieces can create multiple different outfits, and while I’m reminded of this fact while traveling, it’s something important to keep in mind at home as well.

The easiest way to transform your look is by using accessories. Adding a third piece (i.e. jacket, bet, etc.) can create a more polished and formal feel, while adding a jewelry can instantly change the look of an outfit. By using your basic wardrobe staples as a blank canvas, you can change up your look for different events with accessories.

While the basics might be the same, incorporating different accessories can make an outfit appear different. No need to spend money, transform your look by adding different accent pieces.

Style doesn’t have to be overcomplicated

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by clothing and feel as though you have to pay attention to details and style a bunch of different elements together to create a put together look, but style doesn’t have to be overcomplicated.

Hawaii lends itself to ease and effortless style like a simple dress for women, or linen shorts and a button down for men. There’s no need to go further. Stick with simple outfits that fit you well and you’ll never go wrong. As long as you make the effort to tailor clothing to properly fit your body and accent your best features, style can be effortless.

The number one thing that Hawaii reminded me about style is that it’s not complicated. Simple pieces that fit well are always the best, and if you’re not comfortable in it, it’s not worth wearing.
