Regaining Your Motivation and Inspiration

Sometimes you fall into a funk. It happens to everyone, and the truth of the matter is that it’s okay to feel lost and unmotivated sometimes. No one is perfect, and things happen. These periods of uncertainty do not define you. What defines you is how you come out of the fog, regaining your motivation and inspiration that sparks you.

Starting is always the hardest part, so just find a little nugget of inspiration and go from there. Honestly, I find that the best way to draw inspiration is to browse the internet. Hit up Pinterest and spend some time regaining your motivation and inspiration from your peers. (And let’s be real here: who wouldn’t want the excuse to sit on Pinterest for a while?) Once you have your starting point, you can take baby steps to get back into the swing of things.

I’ve created an easy game plan for you to follow:

  1. Find your nugget of inspiration, be it big or small (i.e. go on Pinterest, go to your favorite blogger’s website, etc.)
  2. Take note of what about this nugget inspires you (Is it an outfit, an inspirational story? What about this makes you want to get up and do something?)
  3. Make a list of what this makes you want to do (Does this nugget make you want to write a blog post, revamp your resume, clean out your closet, etc.?)
  4. Take the first step! Let impulse drive you and do the first thing on your list! If your nugget of inspiration makes you want to explore other job opportunities, go ahead and do that! If your nugget makes you want to show the best version of yourself on paper, redo your resume! (Or reach out to me and I can help you with that!) Do what your impulse tells you. Going with a gut feeling is always a good way to get started.

Regaining your motivation and inspiration can be hard, but you’re not alone in your journey. While you sit there feeling uninspired, there are thousands of other people feeling the same way. All you can do is be your best self, and move forward to find something to re-inspire you. Hopefully this game plan for regaining your motivation and inspiration will help you find what you’re looking for and take the first steps to make it happen!
