Fall In Love with Blazers

I’ve always had a deep love for jackets, which probably comes from growing up in the constant fog of San Francisco. While not a full blown jacket, a blazer can be paired with almost any item of clothing, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. If you haven’t already, I would highly suggest that you try to fall in love with blazers.

For this look, I paired my trusty Banana Republic navy blazer with a classic faux wrap skirt, (which I’ve highlighted in other articles) and a sheer white button down blouse. The blazer serves to bring the look together and add a third piece, elevating it on the professional scale. While this outfit would be a perfectly fine office look without the blazer, the third piece makes it look more polished, and immediately commands respect.

One of the reasons why I love blazers so much is because they elevate outfits, but can also create multiple outfits when utilizing one underlying piece. I often fall back on my favorite little black dress or skirt and blouse option, but change up the look with different blazers. The reality is that no one will really notice the blank canvas underneath your blazer if you mix up the outer layer.

Try this: put on a white t shirt and jeans. Look at yourself in the mirror and think about how you will be perceived by people in this outfit. Next, add on a blazer. Immediately, your appearance commands more respect, looks more put together, and looks more professional. Remember, you’re still in that same t-shirt and jeans, but because you have topped it off with a blazer, the whole feel and perception of the outfit has transformed.

Blazers are an absolute wardrobe staple for me, and something I recommend men and women to keep in their closets! Make sure you get one well fitted to your body, so if you’re concerned about that, ask a salesperson or stylist to help you with the fit. Fall In Love with Blazers
