Jeans and T shirt kind of gal? Me too! But I always try to find ways to update and elevate this classic look. This particular shirt is from Zara, and at about $20, was a total steal! When it comes down to it, most people can’t go about their daily life in casual wear like jeans and a T, so finding ways to modernize and dress it up a little bit are key to staying comfortable and looking polished. The material is a knit, automatically making it appear more formal than a simple cotton shirt, and the details of the stitching down the front and the mesh around the neckline add even more interest and elegance.

Fun fact, a V neck shirt will automatically lengthen your neckline, making you appear taller and slimmer. The V draws the eye to the neck, creating a long line from the bottom point of the V, all the way up your neck. This creates the illusion of height, which also adds to the slimming factor.

With a shirt like this, it’s best to wear simple jewelry, but if you want to add some texture or pizazz with a necklace, stick to a long pendant style that keeps with the deep V theme. Any other type of bulky necklace will cut you off at the neck, taking away from the long, lean line you have created with the cut of the shirt.

Pair this top tucked in with a pair of slacks or pencil skirt, with your favorite denim, or with a super skinny pair of black pants like I did above. Though it feels like your old and beaten up white T, this is your basic white T, updated!
