We’ve all been there: when you’re at the end of your rope and you just don’t know how to push forward or where to go. Be it in a job search, with family, friends, or loved ones, everyone is fighting their own battles. The most important thing to realize is that you’re not alone. For every feeling you’re currently feeling, there is at least one person (but probably a lot more people) out in the world feeling the same exact way.
You may think no one understands, and it is easy to fall into that self-pity mode, but trust me, we all understand and are right there with you. My biggest piece of advice is don’t be afraid to ask for help. Help can come in so many different forms, and in our electronic society, it is a strong possibility that support might be at the end of your fingertips. Reach out to people who may have insight or connections, or try one of my go-to methods: simply do a google search. Recently I’ve been trying to expand my connections and network with other local bloggers. Low and behold, there are so many blogging websites and communities out there that I had no idea about! (i.e. Blogger Babes)
There are so many people willing to help you reach your goals, providing support or advice, and it just doesn’t make any sense to not take advantage of it. Sometimes it just helps to know someone is going through the same situation as you, but another missed opportunity comes with leveraging connections.
At a stand still with your job search but have an old classmate that works at your dream company? Reach out and communicate your aspirations! There is no harm in asking, because the worst thing that will happen is that it won’t pan out and you’ll be in the same position where you started. However if someone is receptive, it can open up a world of opportunities.
One of my life mottos is that the squeaky wheel gets the oil. It is totally cliché, but I can’t even count the number of times it has paid off for me. In one of my older posts, “It’s The Thought That Counts…But Not Always” I discussed how your intentions are held within you unless you make them an outward gesture, and the same goes for your inner struggles and desires. Unless you communicate your desire to work somewhere or connect with someone in a similar situation, no one knows about it but you. There are a plethora of resources out there, so take a little time, do some research, and utilize them!
How do you utilize your resources?
