If you’ve read a few of my recipes, you know that I have a sweet tooth, but I also try to live a healthy lifestyle. The simple snack that curbs all of my cravings is sweet, healthy, indulgent, but totally guilt free! And best of all? It keeps me full for hours! I use this as a quick breakfast, meal on the go, or as a desert that does double duty, filling me up and curbing my sweet tooth.
All of the ingredients are pantry staples in my house, so it comes together quickly, and can be premade and portioned out ahead of time. So what is the simple snack that curbs all of my cravings? Plain, nonfat Greek yogurt with a few mix-ins!
Ingredients:
- ½ cup nonfat plain Greek Yogurt**** make sure you pay attention to the sugar content! I like Trader Joe’s version because it only has 6 grams of sugar and 22 grams of protein per cup
- 1 tbsp. high quality, pure maple syrup
- 2 tbsp. unsweetened shredded or flaked coconut
- 2 tbsp. sliced raw almonds
The most important part of this snack is that you use high quality ingredients. Use good Greek yogurt with a low sugar content, pure maple syrup, (not that processed junk) unsweetened coconut, and sliced almonds. The higher quality ingredients are better for you, and they taste better, making this even more fulfilling and indulgent!
Mix everything together and serve immediately or pack into a pre-portioned container for an easy meal on the go or a quick meal prep. The simple snack that curbs all of my cravings might not be what you expect, but let me explain why this curbs all of my sweet cravings. The yogurt makes it creamy and indulgent, the maple syrup gives it sweetness while not taking away from the tang of the yogurt, and the almonds and coconut give it texture. It hits on so many flavor and texture points that it has become my go to snack.
