I’ll admit, I’m slightly obsessed with the peplum style right now, but there is a reason behind it! Depending on fabric, color, and what you pair it with, a peplum will truly flatter any figure, and enhance the hourglass shape. When I talk about fabric and color, what I mean is that some fabrics show every single imperfection of the body, so try to stay away from thin, sometimes shiny fabrics. The same thing goes with color. I love a white peplum top, however the material has to be thicker to wear white, because if it isn’t thick enough, again, imperfections will be highlighted. Peplums are especially great for people with a more square body shape, trying to get a more feminine and curvy look, as well as people without a super defined waist. When you don’t have much curve around your waist, a peplum will help create shape, making your waist appear narrower.
There is one major rule about this style: Don’t wear anything with pleats or volume on your lower half when wearing a peplum. Adding that extra volume will make you appear all around larger. Stick with something fitted on the bottom to accentuate the flared out hip area that this style offers. I love to pair a peplum top with a pencil skirt, or slim fitting slacks for work, but don’t be fooled, this style is also great for a night out. Pairing a peplum top with skinny jeans and heals is a great way to look great without showing too much skin. I’m not one to show a lot of skin, so I love this option for a casual date night or night out with the girls!
Love the peplum as much as I do? With fall around the corner, try something new and go fora peplum style jacket or blazer like this one. Using the peplum on out outer piece instead of on a shirt will ensure that you shape molding piece won’t be covered up in the chillier weather!
