I’ll be the first to say that my closet consists of mostly neutrals, (a lot of that being black) with little pops of color, but mostly texture. As someone who feels most comfortable in a color palate of black, white, and grey, I understand that it can be hard to break out of your comfort zone.
My tip? Try a piece of clothing in a color you feel comfortable with, but a different texture, such as this perforated jacket. It’s a classic, nude motorcycle jacket, but the perforations give it a modern edge. It’s one of my go-to pieces to add some umph on days when I just want to throw on my black sheath dress.
I’m also a fan of statement necklaces with a basic dress/top as a blank canvas. This particular necklace also includes different textures of the copper, geodes, stones, and beads, so it draws attention to the neckline, enhancing a very classic outfit. I also love the fact that it plays off of my hair. Find a piece that speaks to you and go with it!
