Winter is finally upon us, and I love it! Wearing jackets and layering up is my favorite, not only because of the coziness, but because of the fashion, so today I want to talk to you about my current favorite: the trench coat.
I have been wearing this wardrobe staple with EVERYTHING, and have even been accused of looking like a bad undercover cop while people watching and wearing this at a bar, but low and behold, it is still my current favorite.
I specifically bought this trench coat because of the removable hood. I love that I can wear it with the hood, or remove it for a more indoor appropriate jacket option. This trench coat serves as an every outfit option that can be worn as part of the outfit, an overcoat to be taken off, and can be dressed both up and down for various occasions.
For this look, I chose to go semi casual with black denim, ankle boots, a cozy sweater, and a blanket scarf. That said, I also wore this to work the other day with a pencil skirt, blouse, and scarf to stay stylish and warm in my chilly office. I’m personally a fan of the classic khaki color trench, but now these iconic pieces can be found in an array of colors including black, navy, army green, and even red! I’m all about budget friendly pieces and mixing and matching high quality with more economic pieces, but this clothing item is one that you’ll want to invest in. The trench coat is a classic and timeless piece of clothing that you will be able to wear and keep for years to come without fear that it will be off-trend or out of style. Invest in a coat that you truly love, and you’ll have it forever.
Tie it in the front to stay extra bundled up and cozy, or for a more chic and indoor appropriate look, try tying the belt in the back to give the coat more shape. This way you can wear it as an open front option that still defines your waist and keeps you warm, like I chose to do for this look.
When buying a trench coat, just remember that you want to try it on with some different clothing options to make sure it fits you right. You want to make sure you can wear long sleeves or a sweater under it, but you also want to make sure it isn’t so big that you look like you’re in an oversized jacket if you just have a blouse on under it.
So there you have it, the piece that will continue to show up in my outfits and pictures, my current favorite: the trench coat.
