The holidays often come with rich and unhealthy food (who doesn’t like to indulge?) but it’s nice to have a healthy option too. This guilt free onion dip tastes like the classic, but is healthy, packed with protein, and free from preservatives and unnatural ingredients, making it the perfect appetizer for any gathering.
Best of all? It’s really easy to make! The hardest part is sautéing the onions. If you have a sauté pan and a mixing bowl, you can whip this up in no time.
Guilt free onion dip ingredients:
- 16oz container of plain, nonfat Greek yogurt
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 1 tbs canola oil
- 1 tbs onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp celery salt
- ¼ tsp kosher salt + more for sautéing onions
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
Start by sautéing the onions in the canola oil. Once the onions are golden brown and soft, sprinkle with a pinch of kosher salt, remove from heat, and set aside to cool.
In a separate bowl, mix all other ingredients, then when the onions have cooled for about 10 minutes, add them into the yogurt mixture. That’s it! Simple as can be! This guilt free onion dip gets better the longer it sits, so I suggest making it a day ahead of time so the flavors can come together.
Serve with your favorite chips or raw veggies for a guilt free way to celebrate the season. Enjoy!
