Sometimes, you have to think (and purchase) ahead of time. I have a nautical themed wedding to go to in September, so I’ve been searching high and low for a dress now. Retail is always a season ahead, so starting in July, you’ll start seeing pieces for fall in the stores, so I knew that if I wanted a navy dress, I better find one now.
Low and behold, I was able to find the cutest navy striped dress at the Banana Republic Factory Store, and the best part is that it was (and still is) on sale! The key to dress shopping is knowing what style works best on your body, and sometimes, if you’re a regular shopper at the same places, you’ll know what size works without having to try it on.
That’s what happened with this navy striped dress. While shopping with friends the other day, I spotted this adorable piece, and simply purchased it in my size. I knew that the fit and flare style works well for me, and what size I typically am at Banana, so I figured if it didn’t work, I could just return it. Since I also had an additional coupon in my email, this purchase was a no-brainer, and worked out really well! NOTE** If you like Banana Republic, I highly suggest signing up for their emails because they always send great coupons. In general, it’s always a good idea to sign up for emails at stores you regularly shop at, because you’ll be able to save more money and be up to date on all of the sales and new trends.
For this look, I decided to pair the navy striped dress with a pair of nude heels to elongate my legs and go for a simple, understated look. If you wanted to go for something a little more bold, this dress would look great with a bright colored shoe and a statement necklace!
