Warm, fudgy, chocolatey brownies are high up on my list of ultimate comfort foods, and this recipe is no different. These brownies are not for the faint of heart, but if you’re a die hard chocolate lover like me, these may be just the recipe you’re looking for. Inspired by Alton Brown, these fudgy chocolate brownies are rich as can be and super simple to whip up. Whether you’re treating yourself, spending it with friends, or with a special someone, these brownies are the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s day!
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar, sifted
- 1 cup brown sugar, sifted
- sticks melted salted butter
- 1 1/4 cups unsweetened coco powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup flour
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Grease and line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper.
In a mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, (or by hand) beat the eggs at medium speed until fluffy and light yellow. Add both sugars, butter (once it has cooled slightly) and vanilla, and beat until combined. In a separate bowl, mix flour and coco powder and whisk together so they combine and you get rid of the lumps.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet in 3 batches, and mix until everything is incorporated into a smooth batter. Note that the batter will be very thick.
Pour the batter into a greased and lined 9×13-inch baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness with the tried-and-true toothpick method: a toothpick inserted into the center of the pan should come out clean. When it’s done, remove to a rack to cool. Resist the temptation to cut into it until it’s mostly cool, and enjoy these fudgy chocolate brownies for a valentines’s day treat!
