Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Just like every holiday with an iconic color (i.e. Valentine’s Day with red and pink, orange during Halloween, etc.) it’s easy to look like you’re dressing up in costume when you go for a feature colored outfit.
Today I’m talking about how to embrace St. Patrick’s Day green without looking costumey. Fun fact about me: green is actually my favorite color, and while I tend to gravitate towards lime green, I also think that emerald is beautiful. For this look, I found a beautiful green blouse (which is now on sale!) and added a cute felt hat. If you haven’t already figured it out, I definitely have a thing for hats! I think that they add a nice flare to almost any outfit, and are perfect for outdoor explorations to keep out of the sun!
When working with a bold holiday color, the best idea is to focus on one stand out item to be your featured color. Try a green dress with nude accessories, or a green top, jacket, or even green necklace. Wearing one item your feature color and utilizing neutrals for other aspects of the outfit tones the look down, and keeps you out of the holiday costume category.
I’ve seen people go all out with green everything, and let me tell you, it is not pretty! Adding pops of color makes your look appear sophisticated without too much of one color being overwhelming. Green pairs well with navy, so instead of going for basic black, try pairing your pop of green with navy and white for a fresh springtime look! Remember, embrace St. Patrick’s Day green without looking costumey through pops of color and strategic accessories!
