The words “healthy” and “red velvet milkshake” don’t often go together, but trust me when I tell you that this healthy red velvet milkshake is both delicious and completely guilt free! It comes together in seconds, consists of only six healthy ingredients, and tastes like a total indulgence. Plus, it’s vegan and gluten free so you can serve it to almost anyone!
When I first made this I expected it to taste “good for a really healthy smoothie” but instead I created something so yummy that even my boyfriend (who is NOT into healthy smoothies) loved it.
The key here is beet root powder. You can buy it on Amazon, or at most grocery stores. It adds nutrients and is a great natural food dye!
- Healthy Red Velvet Milkshake Ingredients
- ½ frozen banana, sliced
- ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
- 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp beet root powder
- 1 tsp ground flax seeds
- 1 tsp pure maple syrup
This recipe couldn’t be much easier! Blend all ingredients together until smooth. That’s it! I usually slice up some bananas to keep in the freezer for when I want to make a smoothie, so I suggest doing that to make things easier.
If you want to make this healthy red velvet milkshake feel even more indulgent, you can top it with some whipped coconut cream to get the full milkshake effect.
Enjoy!
