Transition Your Wardrobe For Spring

Hello Spring! Well, technically it’s spring, but it’s still pretty cold and dreary out there, so I wanted to share some tips on how to transition your wardrobe for spring even when it’s still cold out.

Color

One of the best parts of Spring is all of the colors. Flowers are in bloom and everything seems bright and airy, so when you’re trying to transition your wardrobe for Spring, think about incorporating some light or bright colors. I’m not one to wear many bright colors, but I’m always game for a pop of bright white. Since I was wearing a neutral striped sweater, I opted for white pants to help my outfit appear a bit more season appropriate.

If it’s really freezing out, (i.e. you live on the east coast and not in California) opt for a colorful or bright coat. Even if it’s cold enough to wear a coat, the color will help brighten your mood and make you look more like you’re dressing for Spring instead of winter.

Use accessories to amp things up

When you’re trying to transition your wardrobe for spring, it’s nice to wear seasonal clothing like gauzy blouses and open toed shoes, but when it’s still cold out, layering is key. Utilize fun accessories like scarves and hats in spring colors or fabrics to make an outfit both season and weather appropriate. We all know that the weather doesn’t always match up with the season, so sometimes you have to just fake it and pretend like it’s actually nice out!

Play with patterns

I’m a big fan of stripes, and often live by the motto that you can never have too many striped shirts, so I’ve paired my Spring white with a bold rugby printed sweater, however I suggest picking your favorite print to highlight. During Spring it’s nice to add in a pop of pattern to freshen up your wardrobe. Patterns can be integrated in key pieces like pants, tops, and outerwear, or can be used as accent pieces in scarves, ties, or bags. You’ll see a lot of fun patterns in stores this time of year, so experiment and see what you like.

____________

It can be hard to transition your wardrobe for Spring when it’s still cold out, but the easiest way to do this is to play with color and patterns to get the look and feel that you want while still layering up and staying warm.
