While on vacation, I really try to make the most out of it, savoring my time away from work. I believe that taking time off is just as important as getting work done, however that doesn’t mean that we can let everything go by the wayside.
My tip for getting a little work done while still getting the most out of your vacation is to put a some time aside in the morning. Wake up at your own leisure, grab a cup of coffee, and check some emails while enjoying the view! Even a few minutes of replying to important memos and taking some notes to help prep for when you do go back to work can make a world of a difference.
Realistically, will you truly miss those 15 or 20 minutes out of your morning? Probably not, and the productivity that can come from the time set aside from work will add up, benefitting you in the long run. Think of it this way: be productive for that tiny chunk of time you’ve given yourself, and then you can be lazy to your heart’s content the rest of the day! Life is about balance, and that doesn’t stop on vacation. Aloha!
