If you regularly follow me, you’ve probably noticed that a lot of my photos contain flowers. I definitely don’t have a green thumb, but I do love putting together beautiful arrangements, and this book has some fabulous tips! One thing that I really love about The Flower Chef is all of the inside flower knowledge it provides such as care, tips for making your arrangement last longer, and how to actually put arrangements together.

Did you know that you’re supposed to change the water in the vase? Maybe this is really highlighting my black thumb, but before reading this book, I always thought you were just supposed to add water to the flower vase so the flowers don’t dry out. I’d never realized that flower stems sitting in stagnant water could be a bad thing, but now that I’ve read the book and tried this tip, I’m never going back! I also really love the sections where Luna Bazaar discusses how to arrange flowers and how to make your bouquets look original.

There’s a great how-to on making grids out of floral tape which totally blew my mind! I’ve always tried to get my flowers to look pretty and stand in just the right direction, but it has never worked until I read the flower grid article. Creating a grid pattern on the top of your vase using clear floral tape allows you to place flowers in your vase and remain in place without sliding around. This trick gives a fuller appearance while using less flowers, which means that you can stretch your dollar even more!

Coming from someone who loves to cook and constantly reads recipes, the fact that they modeled this floral book after a cook book makes it really fun and easy to follow. This book would make a great gift for anyone who likes flowers, and especially for people who admire floral arrangements but don’t know anything about them. I think that one quality of a great gift is giving someone something that they may not have picked out for themselves, but totally enjoy, and this book absolutely hits on that factor. I could easily give this gift to almost any friend or family member I can think of, which makes it super universal. The great thing about this book is that everyone can learn something from it. Whether you’re a flower enthusiast or a passing admirer, you’ll be able to find something of interest in The Flower Chef.
