Dress to Impress, But Don’t Forget to Give Yourself Time to Relax

I often discuss the importance of dressing up, and how that affects your ability to communicate, however today I wanted to talk about dressing down. I always suggest dressing to impress, but don’t forget to give yourself time to relax.

Relaxing is just as important as working hard

Life is about balance, and while it’s important to work your hardest and to your fullest potential, studies show that giving yourself time to relax and recuperate is equally important. If you don’t give yourself time to recharge from the stress of working, you won’t be able focus all of your energy on the hard stuff. By giving yourself time away from work and always being “on”, you’ll in turn make yourself more productive when you are working.

Give yourself a day when you forget about your appearance

As someone who loves clothing, this can sometimes be hard, but try to give yourself a day where you just don’t care. Live in your sweats, forget about makeup, and just chill. This means something different for everyone, but giving yourself the opportunity to completely relax from the stress of giving off a certain perception can be hugely beneficial for your mental state. It’s easy to get caught up in constant activities between work, family, and having a social life, but don’t forget to give yourself time to relax, or your body will inevitably make you slow down by getting sick.

My go-to outfit for relaxing

If I’m really just sitting around the house relaxing, sweatpants or leggings often do the trick, but when it comes to running errands or hanging out with friends, I often go for jeans and a t-shirt. Comfortable, classic, and completely casual.

When you’re someone who’s always on the go, dressing well is important and will serve you well, however it’s equally important to give yourself time to relax and recharge. That goes for your clothing too. It’s nice to not care once in a while, and just be completely comfortable.

What’s your favorite way to recharge?
